Volume Three of Ashley's Essential History

Volume three of Mike Ashley's History of the Science Fiction Magazines takes us from 1946 to 1955 and the end of the pulp era. This volume again follows the familiar pattern of providing a very readable overview of the history of the era followed by an anthology of a representative story from each year covered. The appendices list publications for the listed authors (and ten additional significant authors) during the decade in question, listings of cover artists, and a run down of relevant editors. This volume, like the previous two, are not only highly recommended but are essential to any serious science fiction fan.
